Supporting growth for ecology specialists

For a consultant ecologist heading up a growing business, Oliver Ramm realised he needed to outsource his company’s IT support after spending an increasing amount of his working days managing the systems and technology issues.

The Client

Oliver had set up the IT system at RammSanderson when he founded the business with co-director Nick Sanderson in 2014.

The firm provides services in ecology, flood risk and arboriculture to a wide range of public and private sector clients including utilities and infrastructure across all scales of developments.

In just three years it has rapidly grown to employ 30 ecologists across two offices in Derbyshire and Staffordshire.

The Solution

As the company expanded, there were increasing IT demands on Oliver that were taking him away from the core business activities.

RammSanderson turned to Bespoke Computing Ltd for a fully managed IT support programme after the firm successfully provided secure firewall and VPN connectivity at the two regional offices.

This essentially involves acting as RammSanderson’s IT department, looking after the firm’s day to day requirements at both sites as well as planning and managing any future developments.

The Outcome

Oliver said: “It has become apparent very quickly the value of handing the IT management over Bespoke Computing. It has allowed me to focus on the core aspects of the business and manage our growing team and service delivery.

“Working with Bespoke Computing allows us to tap into the most up to date knowledge surrounding IT and ensure that our systems are constantly evolving to meet the needs of the business and clients.”

Paul Cook, Bespoke Computing’s Business Development Manager, said: “To outsource IT support for your business can be a tough decision to make if you have installed and managed a system to that point.

“Ultimately it allows people to concentrate on the aspects of their business that they know while letting us, the IT experts, work seamlessly in the background to help them achieve their goals.”
