A Walk in the Park

A Walk in the Park

Most of us take for granted being able to take the dog out for a walk and enjoy the countryside.  For Joanne Day a medical condition called Dystonia makes this simple pleasure impossible.

A sponsored walk for all the family – with or without dogs – will take place on November 13th from 2pm at Weston Park and among the walkers will be one of our clients, Gill from the Bradford Estate Office.

The aim is to raise money to buy an off-road wheelchair for Joanne, who suffers from the neurological disorder Dystonia, so she can walk her assistance dog Kaiser in the countryside on her doorstep – her reward to him for his devoted 24/7 care, help and protection.

Dystonia causes muscle spasms and leaves Joannes body contorted and fixed into abnormal positions. Kaiser gives her the confidence to leave the house and meet new people and helps with everyday tasks, such as dressing and picking things up, that Joanne otherwise finds difficult to perform.

Raising money for a wheelchair that will reward Kaiser for all his efforts seems well worth it to us, and a dog walk seems a very apt way to do it!  Bespoke Computing Ltd has sponsored Gill on her walk, it is a pleasure to support an event that is close to home and that will raise money for such a good cause.

‘A Walk in the Park’ starts at 2pm at the Granary Car Park at Weston Park on the A5 at Weston Under Lizard and there are a number of walk distances between one and five miles available.
